Honda Phantom Engine Repairs

Featured Replies

Friend of mine has a Honda Phantom. He lives up country and has no internet access. He called to say that his engine was billowing black smoke and making a strange noise, so now he doesn't use it at all. He now wants to fix it and sell the bike. I have no idea what can have caused this, nor did he, but I suspect he didn't keep his eye on oil levels etc. I told him to sell it as seen, but he didn't like that idea. He would prefer to get it fixed before selling.

Would a repair shop

(a) strip down and rebuild the engine with new parts, or

(B) would they just buy a new engine and fit it? or

© fit a good second hand engine?

In the event of any of these happening, any ideas of costs etc?

10K baht should be about the max to fix the engine ---- it might even be cheaper --- depends on what is wrong ---- sounds like piston rings, but that's a guess based on your description.

Parts and labour are cheap, If he wants to keep riding it. Tell your friend to get himself down to his nearest MAIN Honda dealer.
