Best Place For Non-B Visa?

Featured Replies

Well its that time again :( i need to renew my Non-B visa but after the last attempt (KL 3 month Non-b :o) i am unsure as to where to apply for my visa. I have been to speak to Herbert but was not given assurances due to Malayisa making it harder for visa applications (odd). Is Cambodia worth looking into ? or can somebody offer another destination. Any help appreciated. Thnx

Btw my work permit has 3months left unill it needs renewing.

Moving to visa section & leaving link on Samui forum.

What were your problems with KL and on what basis were you applying?

Will need one myself soon so am interested in this thread.

Why can you not do it in country?

Do you not meet all the requirements?

KL requires at least 7 months left on WP for multiple non-B

When i went to KL they gave me 3 months as my work permit only had 6 months left :( so what i probably will have to do this time is get another 3 months and then when i get my new permit get a Non-b Multi :D. I was asking for advice as a i over heard somebody talking about Cambodia being more lenient as regards to the time remaining on the work permit.

@ Beano as far as i know there is no way to apply for a visa Non-B from inside Thailand :/ and yes i meet the requirements needed for a Non-B visa.

Validity of WP is no longer attached to validity of visa.

You can go any time to get 1 year validity on your WP.

1. Get one year validity on your WP.

2. Get 12 months non-B in KL.

I think Beano is talking about 1 year extension of stay based on employment from immigrations.

Just been to speak to my Lawyer about extending the validity on my permit and was told "cannot" i have to wait until my permit expires and then apply for a new one. Is this info correct if not where do i have t go to apply for it myself (koh Samui).

Why not get an extension from Immigration in Thailand then?

The requirements for a non-B visa and for an extension of stay based on work are not the same.

Change lawyer (is it a real lawyer with a degree or just an accountant?)

Mine (southern inter lawyer) fixed it for me and my friends without problem.

I believe the labour office is next door to the Amphur in Nathon.

Bring a Thai that can fill out the forms.

Very true, but a decent company or school would not have their employees going away for days to

get a new Visa.

The company I work with does all of the paperwork.

Majority of my friends here on Samui are self employed.

Even then the company lawyer gets the papers in order and it should be a formality in getting an

Extension. Saying that TIT.....

Not if you only pay taxes on 30.000 baht per month.

I always thought that for Westerners the minimum monthly salary was 50,000baht for employment, but

that might be something else.

Tax is a funny thing in Thailand, I paid tax all year and got a rebate, of everything I had paid

"Amazing Thailand".

The 50.000 baht is required for extension of stay based on employment. ;)

The minimum income requirement is one of the things that is necesarry for an extension of stay, but not for a non-B visa.

Do note that the minimum income requirement does not apply to all jobs. Teachers, members of the media and people working for the government for instance fall under different rules, which don't have a minimum income requirement.

And there are other reasons - such as a new company without a year of tax return information available - that will prevent one year extensions of stay. Many people do not qualify for Immigration extensions of stay and have to obtain visa entry every 90 days (at least for some period of time).
