BMA WILL KICK OFF 'BOOKS-FOR-LOAN-WHILE-COMMUTING' PROJECT

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will arrange the "books-for-loan-while commuting" project as well as install 50 new types of libraries.

Bangkok Governor Aphirak Kosayothin(อภิรักษ์ โกษะโยธิน) said the projects are aimed at enhancing the love of reading in Bangkok for residents. The "books-for-loan-while commuting" project will involve arranging book corners at BTS and subway stations that will allow people to grab books and read them while traveling from station to station. This will allow them to spend their free time productively while saving money on such books, as they could be expensive and beyond neccessary in the current economic condition.

At present the project is still being examined, and a decision has yet been made.

Mr. Aphirak also said that the BMA will arrange for new type of libraries in all 50 districts that would be based on the Dynamic Link Libraries (DLL) system. The libraries will become learning centers with up-to-date technologies that will allow users to find answers to their queries faster and more conveniently.

The Bangkok governor said people interested in seeing the sample of such libraries can drop by the front of the Plenary Hall in the 10th Bangkok International Book Fair being held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center until October 16th.
