Hi there Folks..

I'm moving to Thailand in the next few months with the wife and kid from Ireland.. Wife is Thai, I'm retiring from the Navy, we have a house purchased in Pattaya. I will need to furnish the house when we get out there,

and I was just wondering does Thailand have any online site like Argos, Harvey Normans (Electrical+Bedding) etc in Thailand that I could browse here and get an idea of what It'll cost to furnish the house.. Thanks a

million for any help you can provide to me.. also does anyone have any experience with shipping companies in case I decide to ship my own house hold items out....

Tesco Lotus, Big C, PowerBuy, Numchai are ones that I have browsed online. Might be able to try Central Department store and Index? I think Ikea will be in Bangkok shortly also...

Yes, I have same problems. In today many large size online shopping mall in Thailand. Ususally, famouse department store has online shopping mall, Central Dept., emporiums, robinsons etc.

I'm alos order to Emporium for purchasing house holders. It is great.

You may also not-yet be aware that, as a Thai-national who's been living overseas for more than a year, your wife can make one duty-free import of a container-load of goods, being 'her' personal-belongings upon returning home to Thailand.

Of course there will still be 'tea-money' fees, to ease its way through Customs, your clearing-agent will negotiate & pay this.

In our case, we jam-packed a 20-foot container, packing everything we could fit-in, and found that at least 90% was useful to someone in some way or another, after arrival. There might also be fellow countrymen, who want to move a few cubic-metres of stuff out here, and would chip-in towards the shipping-cost ? Perhaps ask on the Pattaya sub-forum, to see if there's anyone, seeking to share ?

Good Luck & Welcome ! :)
