Can anyone tell me what is the processing time for a spouse visa.

All going well, I am planning on getting married this year, My Girlfriend is now here in the UK on her 2nd tourist Visa and now looking at doing the decent thing.

all going well, we will get married in September and then make the plans for her to come to the UK for 27 months.

I have been lucky 2 out of 3 times my girlfriend applied for a tourist Visa and i know that you have to address everything, Is a spouse Visa any easier to apply For.

I guess a one way Ticket to the UK will be OK with a airline!!!

Any other tips would be great

hi there is another thread entitled ''UK settlement waiting 2011''. if you look on the last page it will give you an idea of how long to wait. i think it can be anything from 2 weeks to 2+ months.

IMy girlfriend will be applying for a uk settlement visa next month. for me personally, the application seems very similar to the tourist visa application I applied for in January - in terms of what information to provide. The only difference is i am providing more information about how much money i have, my accomodation, and my type of work. I am also making sure my sponsor letter explains everything very clearly.

Good Luck

The UKBA advise allowing 12 weeks for a settlement visa to be processed. At quiet times it can be shorter, some have had the result back in 5 working days, but as the topic Kaunas refers to will show you, at busy times it can take a lot longer.

As with any visa, show that you meet the criteria and you get the visa. In one way a settlement visa is easier than a visit visa as she obviously will not need to show a reason to return to Thailand. She will, though, need to satisfy the English requirement and have a TB test.

Yes, the airline will know that the visa in her passport is for settlement and so a one way ticket will be fine.

N.B. I've amended the topic title to show which country you are asking about.
