Richb2004v2
Has anyone any idea what this is? There were half a dozen of them hanging over my pond. After observing them for a week or so I realized they had gone hard and looked to be spent. I opened one but it was already empty. I think that they are maybe hatching nests for tadpoles which then drop into the pond but not sure. Maybe tree frogs? Any ideas?

planemad
RichB, I think what you have is what we used to call Cockoo Spit, Google it and you will get more answers but they all suggest there is very little to worry about. Frogs eggs are usually laid in water in a large mass whilst toads lay their eggs in strings. I hope this is of some use. PM
tw25rw
Cuckoo spit is from insects so isn't usually around water. Tree frog eggs is more likely.
