I am going to trade my city for a new cruze. City is late 2008 so the 2009 model. It's the mid range model (the one without the worthless mini airbags and foglight/side mirror lights) with very little chrome (only the vertical part of the door handle and the front bumper was changed the the one that's similar to the civic) 27 000km, maintained at honda anddriven by someone who does not run into potholes/speedbumps. They say it will be around 450k baht. I cant for the life of me remember how much we paid for it. My gf says we paid around 450k but that makes no sense, its way too low(start of october 2010) and it was on one2car. The advantage is i have nothing to fix, they will fix it themselves(scratches and cleaning) and once its all approved i get the extra money from the loan (putting 25% down and keeping rest for furniture) while keeping my honda untill they deliver the cruze.

They are offering 450k and your GF says that what you paid, I don't see the problem, infact if anyone is getting screwed it's prolly the dealer.

You bought 450k and now the dealer take back the City from you for 450k, this is what I understand. So why are you still complaining? You wanna make money for your 2 yo car instead? If not, the topic you post is hilarious! Don't understand what you mean!?

no i meant that we thought that we paid 450k then i looked at prices on on2car and there is no way we paid that little last year for this car when for this price the best you can get is a ZX ZY old city model

So we obviously paid in the 500's, just wondering if anyone has tips on how to get max value when exchanging at a dealer.

The honda dealer will offer you the least for your car. A car tent will offer you a little more. The most you will get is if you can sell privately I think. I sold my old city for 245K many years back to a tent; the honda dealer where we were buying our new civic from only offered 235K. At that time the tents were selling the similar model for 260-270K or something around that. Try some tents and compare what they offer with the honda dealer.

Thats the thing with part -exing cars you don't get top dollar BUT you get convenience. You stated that you do not have to do any additional work and you get to keep the car until your new one arrives. so a win , win sitution for you. you could of course sell the car privately for 50,000b more then rent a car for the 2-4 weeks 25-45,000b until your Cruze arrives.

Learn from this IF you buy a car in this exaggerated market then you need to keep it for more than a year otherwise you lose loads.

Have fun with ya new car. They certainly look nice (though to be honest, I dunno why your changing)

It is a 2008, as delivered and Insured and possibly registered 2008. Check in addition model in reg book, but I bet its 2008.

450k trade in sounds good to me. Reason, loong waiting lists on new due to reduced output during lack of Japs parts.

Ok thanks. I found out it was 490k with not many kilo's on it and now with 27k. So if i get anything above 400k for it, i will have paid less than 10k per month for an almost new car. Pretty good deal hehe. Cruze takes less than a week for deliveries.. feels good not to be told 6months like honda would

Well i just went again and the guy who deals with the used cars goes to my gym and yet i could not recognize him and i allegedly was rude to him by saying i don't talk to people at my gym indirectly to him while he was allegedly talking to me. He still offered us 450k 9months after we paid 490k. The car was really dirty, seats are stained with mud, scratches and a big dent on the back.. Not too shabby.. 4k a month for a ~new~ city.

He checked the car 5secs under the hood, 15 secs from the outside and made the deal.. if anyone wants to sell a used car without a hassle i would ref him. I dont even need to bring my car to the inssurance to get the small stuff fixed for free.

I doubt it will be hard. Thais are going more and more to chevy/ford so second hand will be an easy sell if kept in good quality as long as you go through individual websites/newspaper.. And selling to a farang should be even easier.

Anyways as long as its not costing me much more than 10k per month i cant complain.

Indeed,Ford and Chevy sales are better, but ive found both are hopeless at Service.I run Reps cars here.Even Toyota cant match Honda Service. Admitted Honda do fall for a few Spivy Outlets, but the Word gets round like wildfire. On Paper the Cruz looks good,,but so did those horrid Aveos..My Personal car is a City non auto, chipped up an extra 15Bhp only, and no tinsel, look at me stuff,it wakes up a lot of Flash Harry's, its quite good fun to drive. When i first noticed the Cruz i thought Yes,but the Hillbillies up her cant show you one, so ill wait for the 2013 City upgrade, being a cautious Brit..We all want a report on your Cruze , and it cant be worse than my mates new Ford 2 Litre sports whatever its called, its dropped a Valve @ 4000 Klics. Now hes Bleating the Wife chose it.!!!!!!!!..

Tried one this morning Seriouseats, there is a Demo at Sukhothai Hillbilly Branch..nice to drive, not sure about the Looks, this was white. The Interior is excellent, in fact I'm convinced my friends Focus interior was designed by an Electric Golf Trolly designer. The Rain Sensor device is a pisstake, but perhaps some folk don't know about rain..My verdict. Not such a Hi Spec as the Ford, but the Engine didnt Break. I think its great value, but ill stick with Honda. I keep hearing Daewoo Bells, but thats just me.

I want to put in HID headlamps and fog lights.. can i just buy them off a website in china for 10$ each and do it myself or will it be like 20$ each installed at a mod shop?

have a look at Supercheap, and then you can deside if you are able to wire them.

I hope you want HID headlamps and no HID foglamps. Foglamps spread light only 25 meters forward, and using HID in them blinds yourself. Human eyes are automaticly attracted to the brightest lit area, and you wont see whats in the low beam 75 meters area or highbeam 2-500 meters area while foglights are on

As with everything in life, you get what you pay for.. $20 HID's will more than likely not be able to last more than a few months or so, and they'll always fail when you need them the most.. You can almost guarantee at that price they'll have junk ballasts, junk bulbs, and none of the hardware or wiring you'll actually need to fit them. IMHO you're much better off going to a reputable shop and paying 3-3.5K/set fitted, and get a proper install & warranty. They've already done the hard work in weeding out the absolute junk from the reasonably reliable junk :)

My wife's Pajero has HID foglamps - but they are in proper foglamp projector housings, so the light is both evenly spread, and properly cut-off. Highly recommeded for any high-riding pickup/SUV IMHO, as they all suffer from near-range low light levels due to having elevated headlamps.

Any of these shops in phuket or i just chose the one with the nicest cars in front?

C-Cube Meguires detailing center, between Vachira and Bangkok hospitals. Be aware of occasional high farang pricing tho. While there get a proper Meguire 21 waxing of your new Cruze. I buy a bottle Meguire21 at 1600? baht good for 15-20 times, and pay 350 baht for wash/vacuum and wax

Whats the Benefit of Polishing a Base Coat and Lacquer Finish then.?.Solid Colours benefit from careful attention admittedly if the products got Anti U.V, we have all seen the Red Paint turn pink from no TLC, but Ive never put Polish on mine, and they look fine with Manufactures Washing Instructions. I sometimes do think of Polish from my swinging sixties and Go Faster Stripe Days.Turtle Wax was The Brand then.Great Stuff ,you put too much on, left it too long and took a week to polish it off.:D

My pickup is clear over base metallic black, once a month I use meguiars cleaner paste followed by their deep Crystal wetlook polish, its looks a million dollars with paint deep enough to swim in for about 15 minutes afterwards, fookin black cars are a a pain to keep clean.

If the paint is properly waxed, its properly protected and very hard to put swirls on it by washing.

I have my cars and bikes waxed with Meguire 21 every 2-3 months, to protect paint from seawater, beachsand, salt humidity and sand in wash water. Stainless steel and high quality chrome rusts here close to the beach, but waxed paint survives

Not a biggie - just hit it up with some Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, followed by Meg's Swirl Remover or Ultimate Compound, and the swirls won't know what hit them :)
