THAILAND TO HOST THE 1ST ASIAN INDOOR GAMES

Deputy Prime Minister SUWAT LIPTAPANLOP (สุวัจน์ ลิปตพัลลภ) will be the chairman on the committee meeting of the 1st Asian Indoor Games which will be held on 12 – 19 November 2005. The purpose of this meeting is to monitor and expedite the project so as to express the Thailand’s potential in becoming the host of the international sport tournament.

Mr.SUWAT said Thailand will host the first Asian Indoor Games from12 to 19 November 2005. Moreover, the grand opening will be held on 12 October 2005 at Indoor Stadium HUA-MAK (หัวหมาก), Bangkok at 5 p.m. The total number of athletes is around 791 people from 37 countries. Moreover, total number of all participants equal to 2,400 people who will attend in various competition such as aerobic, gymnastic, dancing, extreme sport, footsal, cycling, boxing etc. Moreover, there will have 121 gold medals to grant each winner. The competition will be taken place at Indoor Stadium HUA-MAK, SUPANBURI (สุพรรณบุรี) Stadium, Stadium in PATTAYA (พัทยา), CHONBURI (ชลบุรี) Province and Stadium in PHUKET (ภูเก็ต) Province. Mr. SUWAT expected that Thai athletes will be able to get 10 gold medals regarding the competition.

Besides, the Public Relation and Technology Divisions will speed up in promoting and stimulating Thais to gain interest and help Thailand become the host in establishing the first Asian Indoor Games. Finally, Mr. SUWAT confirmed that Thailand is ready in establishing the first Asian Games during 12-19 November 2005.
