P76
I would like to stay in a resort next March in Krabi or Phuket. Do you get a better rate walking in, or is the internet the way to go? I notice the rates are cheap until the end of this month, but next March is 3 times the price. Do they keep the discounts going if the resort is lacking customers? Thanks in advance. madmitch
Book on the internet. Thai business practices usually dictate that the rates are set in stone for walk-in customers at many big hotels and resorts and even discounted rates are often well above the internet prices. It's a different matter with small hotels and guesthouses where you can negotiate if you just turn up.
Adagio
I have found that internet rates are just as negotiable in advance. In fact the room I have just booked for two weeks in Phuket for the end of Noveember (smallish guesthouse) the owner told me they always ramp up the internet price. I got a 40% discount.
