Kwasaki
When a car in Thailand gets to 5 -6 years old it has to go through a check right ? So say 2008 spec car has changed the throttle bodies, changed the exhaust system to a performance type, changed to brighter headlights and fitted a Air horn, how would it fair in the test. John 1
the test is at 7 years any of those mods won't be a problem. depending where you get the check done it's normally brake test black smoke test and make sure light's and horn work. then check engine and chassis number

They seemed to be tough on emissions when it comes to larger Motorbikes.
Indegestion
I have an old truck,a Sportsrider, they never even checked the Suspension, the Shocks were dangerous. They pipped the Horn, checked the Hi/Lo Beam on a Boys Leg., jamed the brakes on, and finaly the Soot on a tissue.Passed, no Prob. Car Test :- Is an authorized test centre the office where you get the road tax and people take there driving tests or is that the DLT ?. What does avoid DLT stand for ?, Dodgy, Lying Toe-rags, that's going to be difficult. Catalytic converter :- Seriously that was one of the things I had in mind, on converting exhaust systems some say take off the ' Cat ' , and some old cars don't have one. So if the 2008 model had a ' Cat ' fitted then it must still have to be there at the 7 year car test ?. Edited June 17, 2011 by Kwasaki

Th emission for bikes is on par with California, and recently introduced in Europe but not mandatory yet EuroIV garage with yellow sprocket on blue sign is autorised by DLT to test/check vehicles DLT, Department of Land Transportation When a new car/bike comes with a cat it is because it is needed to pass emission requirements. If not makers wouldnt spend money on it. and yes it must work for lifetime If you take cat off. 1. make sure Lambda is still connected and working, if not your ECU will tell injection to lean burn far to often, run with extremely little fuel, providing overhetaing of pistons. expensive holes in piston. 2. save cat as later you must install it again to pass emission. cat is expensive, contains platinum

katabeachbum
Cor blimey haven't heard that word used since my Volvo T5. what, Lambda? believe Volvo was the only maker bragging about using lambda with a badge when cats where introduced. Its like saying "our coolers/radiators have thermostats".

Thank's "John 1 " it's 7 years for first test, so do you have to take it every year after that for a test ?. Thank's " indegestion " was it a DLT ( Department of Land Transport.) place you took it to or an authorized test centre ?. Thank's for info " kbb " 1. If an old car that does not have a " Cat " it would be OK then ?. 2. Why avoid a DLT place for tests ?.
