Parents should supervise planking?

It could be dangerous, so a parent should supervise? Who writes this idiocy?????? How about knowing where your kids are most of the time, and giving them a clip around the ear whenever they do something stupid. I think that is far more likely to have an effect.

Maybe I should supervise them playing chicken with trains, or trying to play with the traffic.

In my day wanking was our thing and I'm sure a lot more satisfying than "Planking". What a stupid past time, I suppose the Australian youth can claim they've given something to the world but does the world really need it? Go to church, read a book or write one, surf internet porn or try wanking. In London "a Plank" means an idiot which can't be far wrong!

Actually it did NOT start or come from Australia.

But they have had a death there and an idiot in a coma after falling off a car. Who started it and where did it originate? ENGLAND.

Planking got itsstart about 15 years ago, when two teenagers would run around lying down inrandom public places across England. They named their little hobby the "LyingDown Game," and like that it sat for the next 10 years, a memory in two youngboys' minds. Meanwhile, in 2004, a French website collected photos of peopleposing "à plat ventre"—on one's belly—reports Know Your Meme. Cut to 2007: GaryClarkson and Christian Langdon, the two English teenagers, decided to revisittheir childhood pastime and give it a Facebook page. Their friends, thenfollowed by friends of friends, began to join in on the fun. In 2008, a groupof teens began lying down around South Australia—except instead of "Lying Down"they called it "Planking," giving the LDG a fresh name. Then, in 2009, sevenstaffers at an English hospital were caught posting photographs of their planksto Facebook. They were suspended, but the media were enthralled, and the memeas we know it was born. Facebook fans of the splintered groups grew by thethousands.

So "lying down" is English and "Planking" is Australian so where's your point? Both stupid but "Planking" is Australian

Silly people, it came from Germany, invented in the early 1900s by a physicist. Everyone said he Plancks to the Max and that is how he got his name. Don't you people know anything?

Those people at the Mental Health Department must have obtained their degrees on Khao San Rd. I don't seem to be able to find a suitable definition of Planking in any medical journal that makes reference of any sort to Planking. It sounds that this guy would be the perfect recruit of a Thai Police Officer.

Of course, one possibility is this mental health professional could have meant Boinking rather than Planking. Boinking like Planking is often pictured in a Prone position.

It was probably just a Freudian slip of the tongue when he was taken a drag on some of the local Weed. Its anyone's guess. .

A slow day at the Mental Health Department.

He added that children must be told to plank at only appropriate places so they would not cause trouble to others.

I let my kids go planking now on a rice field where nobody will interrupt them.....what a planking world we live in.

Update: Government has decided to only prohibit planking from 2-5 pm. Unless you have 10 people planking, in which it is permissible.

Offenders will face jail sentences of a maximum of 10 years and up to a 100 baht fine.

:cheesy:

I think the ministry of commerce should take note. Thailand has potential to become a south-east asian or even world planking "hub". The place is perfectly suited to this. Forget about banking, e-commerce and cars. Stick to bonking, planking and food!

Hey! I just invented Vertical Planking.

My memory is failing, but wasn't there a movie about some college kids(?) lying down on a freeway?

People die from this planking:

A MAN who plunged to his death from a Brisbane 7th floor unit balcony was planking, and police fear it will not be the last death due to the craze.

Planking involves participants lying flat on their stomach in different and sometimes dangerous settings and sharing photographs of their efforts with fellow plankers.

Acton Beale, 20, fell from an inner-city unit block in Kangaroo Point's Main St and died at the scene shortly before 4.30am on Sunday.

The article doesn't say whether he had consumed any alcohol, so why would we assume that. If he did though, he doesn't even qualify for a Darwin Award.

PLANKING

Monks warned against 'planking' craze

By The Nation

Phra Phrommolee, a senior monk in the Sangha Supreme Council, yesterday urged leading monks to prevent more Buddhist clergy from indulging in the Internet craze of "planking".

"Although there's no rule specifically against such activity, it's not an appropriate thing for monks or novice monks to do," Phra Phrommolee said yesterday.

The monk's comments came after a picture portraying someone "planking" while dressed like a monk spread on the Internet. The Network of Organisations for the Protection of the Nation, Religion and Monarchy yesterday condemned the picture, saying it had hurt Buddhism.

"Abbots and senior monks should monitor the clergy under their supervision. If they do any 'planking', they must be reprimanded and told not to do it again," Phra Phrommolee said.

Cultural Surveillance Centre director Ladda Tangsupachai urged parents to warn their children about the bad side of "planking" too.

"Planking can be harmful. In addition, it may violate the rights of others," she said.

Wikipedia defines "planking" as lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body, and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the Internet is an integral part of the game.

Players compete to find the most unusual and original location to go "planking". The location should be as public as possible, and as many people as possible should be involved.

One of Australias most biggest plonkers, plankers, w*nkers, Sam Newman, supposedly did this on the top floor of an appartment building recently. I made special note to self... to NOT look for the picture.

IMO, the best place for these fools to plank would be on a slab at a crematorium

OR in a pine box that can be buried 6 foot underground :jap:

One may view this through the spectacles of "the conditioning of the human mind's software - the bio computer and it's networking interaction in societies"!

As this culture like any other, has it's very profound specifications, the results are "as is" it only surprises a mind which is not part of a certain culture, where a certain activity, message or statement may have a completely different value!

Much can be read from these circumstantial situations, events and expressions!
