June 18, 201115 yr Once again it's at that time when I have to renew my yearly Non Im B multi. The Thai consulate in Penang seems to make up new rules every few months - so I'd like to hear of the current state of play. I've been continually employed by the same company for 6 years who also supply my WP. All the paperwork is in place - never any problems with that. But My visa expires on July 14th and my WP runs out on 16 October. In other words I'll be applying for a 1 year Non Im B multi with 4 months to run on my WP. At times in the past Penang have refused to issue 12 month visas unless there are 6 months or more on the WP. Can anybody tell me what their current attitude is? I want to make sure I get a 12 month visa not a 3 month one! (like I had to keep doing a few years back.) Thanks in advance, Rob
June 18, 201115 yr Hi Rob. Get a one year extension on your WP before you apply. Penang only gives 1 year non-B if the employer is capitalized with 8 million Baht. My friends always apply in KL as they have a fixed policy on 7 months left on WP. Non-B in KL Easy to fly to Subang (KL) with Firefly from Samui.

One year ext on WP . . . isn't that the same as simply paying to 'renew' it for another year? I've not heard of an 'extension' to a WP...can you expand on this? As mentioned - never any probs with the paperwork at Penang - the company is cap'd at 12 mil baht. There's no details about the "7 months on WP" on the link you sent . . . Got a link where there's details of the Samui/Subang flight? Cheers for the input, R

Cheers for the input, R Yes, Just pay for one more year to renew your WP. From Non-B in KL Visa FeeSingle Entry: RM220 (Applicant without work permit) Multiple Entry: RM550 (Applicant with valid work permit for more than 7 months) Gratis: Malaysian (fee exempted). Check flight on Firefly Check the Samui gazette, they have a promotion that can be bought at their office at USM. If you want to check Penang. E-mail my friend Jim at Jim's place.

Thanks for the info but this is a kind of cost-cutting exercise - and adding a 4,000B WP cost onto it on top of the travelling and/or flights is against the grain . . . The |Firefly/Gazette promo finished last month anyway . . . Are their any airlines that you know fly from Surat to Penang? Air Asia does ($400US one way!!) I'd prefer Penang - I know all the short cuts and cheap nice places to stay . . . R
June 18, 201115 yr OP, did I miss the post saying why you're getting a new visa instead of an extension from immigration? With the correct paperwork from your employer the 1 year extension is 1900 baht.
