There will be plenty of American beer and the usual imported stuff. Its a great party for the family. Lots of good eating and socializing. Its open to ALL nationalities by the way, not just Americans. No restrictions on alcohol sales. It doesn't apply to us :P

and no alcohol because of elections???

Who cares about the alcohol. They say right on the website that there is NO PARKING!!!

300 baht per head and they can't even find a venue with a parking lot?

Forget it. Maybe if everyone votes with their wallet and tells 'em no thanks they'll try to come up with a more reasonable location next year.

Personally I think they should go back to having them at the tobacco monopoly.

In the good, ole, U.S. of A., nothing is free. Why should it be any different there? Especially there. Kids are 300 baht apiece? Usually, we let the little ones slide.

Oh yeh. I wanted to add...Long may She wave!

A free shuttle every 5 mins isn't good enough?

I wonder if they'll (BiB) allow alcohol after 6pm? (Nationwide ban on booze announced from 6p Sat. until midnight Sun night due to the elections --- same goes for tmw evening etc)

I wonder if that's true in England. Oh, sorry, my bad. They don't celebrate the 4th, but, if they did, they'd, probably, charge the kids.

One group would tell you that the UK SHOULD celebrate the 4th (they got rid of us yanks! ;) The other group would say, of course they charge the kids! They drink too ;)

(really ---------- just joking!)

No, it isn't good enough. Have you ever tried getting baby strollers on and off a "free shuttle?" And where exactly are you supposed to park so can ride the MRT? Don't tell me that tiny little parking garage at Lad Prao. You have about as much chance of parking there as the US does at brokering peace in the Middle East.

Sorry.I am an American, I'm actually even paying taxes to them this year, and not a small amount either. I demand to drive a horrendously oversized SUV to any event I want. This a fundamental right enshrined in the constitution. Throwing a party without parking is clearly a socialist conspiracy engineered by Al Qaida. I wonder if Obama knows terrorists are running the Bangkok embassy.

Just vote no...

Alcohol is allowed like EVERY year they have it. Like it or not the ban does not apply to us. The only Thai's you'll see are the wives/girlfriends/vendors. KIS has their own parking area but doesn't let anyone use it. If you own a car you can park at a nearby Carrefour(BigC) and get a taxi directly to KIS. Ive never used the shuttle but it looks REALLY cramped in those things. I hope the guys using the shuttle dont get backpackers(yes they bring the huge backpacks with them inside the small shuttle!). ANY NATIONALITY CAN GO! You don't have to be American to go to this. It's a fun time for the family. Plenty of Beer there of course Coors, Miller, Budweiser, Samuel Adams and the usual local and imported beers(Heineken). The restaurant list on the website isn't always 100% correct. Theres always more restaurants there than what is shown on the website. There is a separate area and air conditioned room(where I hang out) for the kids with games and prizes from different companies like hot wheels etc. There are tables and chairs inside as well. There are all kinds of promotional items there free of course from places like bumrungrad hospital, dtac, and others. I will warn you if your girlfriend(revealing clothes) or you(not wearing a shirt) are not dressed properly they will ask you to leave as this is a family event. I've seen them kick people out because of it. Plenty of people to socialize and eat with and have a great time. Hope to see some of you there :)

I have it on pretty good authority that they will only sell booze coupons until 6pm but the music, booze and food will still go on until around 8. This so they are not SELLING alcohol after 6 and complying with the law so yes, the ban does apply to this event!

Also the authorities have killed the fireworks and they are investigating alternatives......"frickin' sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their frickin' heads," is an option I guess......

No fireworks again?! Bummer. Is that a ruling by the local Thai authorities in that area?

Definitely my least favorite venue of all the July 4th celebrations I've been to in Bangkok over the many years. Even when they had it way out on Suk Soi 100+ a few years ago they still had fireworks. It'd be nice if they could get back in to the International school on Soi 15. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, nice big area.

Sunbelt Asia checked with Amcham and was told that the property owners nearby would not allow fireworks out of concerns for the safety of their homes.

Alcohol sales are required to stop at 5:30 p.m. due to the election but food and non-alcohol sales will continue until 8 p.m.

The main reason for requesting people to use public transport is the heavy traffic caused when everyone brings their cars, last year more than 2,000 people came to the party.

However, there will be a free shuttle bus from the Huay Khwang MRT.

Peter Driscoll and the Cruisers, Tony Martin, Soi Dogs, Queen Bee and Wildside will rock the crowd with live music and a DJ will keep you dancing all day. American and International style foods will be available from Sunrise Tacos, the Dukes, Roadhouse BBQ, and Bourbon Street. Traditional 4th of July fare will also be available with the American Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) grilling up American beef burgers with all the trimmings and the American Women’s Club serving lots of hot dogs.

The 3rd Annual I-Day Chili Cook-Off gives amateur chefs a chance to put their chili to the test.

The US Marines will be there to raise the flag.

The event is always fun and a great place for friends and family of all nationalities to enjoy a traditional American celebration.
