June 19, 201115 yr Sawadee ka everyone, i have read many forums and I don't think I have seen an answer to my question anywhere, correct me if I'm wrong. > My situation is : - I obtained my Ed Visa in France starting 06 July 2010 - I am a master student here until May 2012 - I have done visa runs with my friend who has a Non-Imm O for the sake of getting out of the city even though I know I did not have to - I went abroad in March and my visa on arrival expires tomorrow 20 June 2011 > My questions are : - When I go at the Immigration tomorrow, am I going to be able to get an extension of 3 months? 1 month? I have requested a visa extension at my school and they told me no problem to extend the visa starting july or august depending on the stamp I get tomorrow at Immigration (even though I'd lose a month if I can get 3 months - september) Did anyone have a similar experience or know an answer to my question? Thank you guys, G'Vibes to y'all
June 19, 201115 yr Immigration will tomorrow only give you an extension of stay (for 90 days) if you can show the paperwork from school. If not, no extension will be given and you will have to leave the country tomorrow. You do not have a visa on arrival. Not sure what you do have, but seems you either have a multiple Ed visa or a 1 year extension of stay from immirgation with a re-entry permit. It is important to know what you have exactly to give you corret advise. If you don't know, maybe scan the relevant stamps in your passport (without personal details).
June 19, 201115 yr You obviously do not have a visa on arrival if you intend to extend so first we need to know exactly what you do have. My suspicion is you have a 90 day ED visa entry from your original one year multi entry ED visa that expires in July? If that is what you have you could obtain one more 90 day entry using a trip/return before an extension of stay is required. If you do not have school paperwork now you will not obtain more than 7 days to leave the country so it would be much better to make a border run for a new 90 day stay if they are not available.
June 19, 201115 yr Author Hi Mario2008, Thanks for your answer. I have a multiple 1 year ED visa yes. I have the paperwork from school and I really hope I'll be able to get the extension of stay of 90 days (even if it goes beyond my Ed Visa which is July 06?) I said I have a visa on arrival because I left the country for my last vacations and it is until... Tomorrow. And the multiple 1 year in... Two weeks. If they say no tomorrow will I be able to get an extension of stay of 90 days at the closer checkpoint (Poi Pet if I'm correct?) Thank you for your time
June 19, 201115 yr The multiple ED-visa allows you to travel an unlimited times to Thailand and each time you enter you are allowed to stay for up to 90 days. It doesn't allow you to stay for 1 year! Tomorrow you have to leave the country and if you re-enter before the 6th you get a new 90 days or you go tomorrow to immigraiton to get a 1 year extension of stay (you are a master student, so presume university student and than you will get a 1 year extension of stay). With an extension of stay it is important to remember that if you want to elave the country, you need to get a re-entry permit or will lose your ED-visa and have to apply for a new one. Edit: Yes, leaving and re-entering at Poi Pet tomorrow will give you 90 days.

Yes this is what I have you are right but the 90 day entry expires tomorrow and the ED 1 year visa in July What is the difference between an extension of stay and a 90 day entry exactly? What I have from my school is my accept letter stating that I am doing a master degree at mahidol university from Sept 10' until May 12' Is it enough if I go with that tomorrow at the Immigration or shall I go at the closest border directly?

Yes I know that each time I re enter the country I don't get 1 year. :-) Ok so if I understand correctly, my best option is to go to the closest checkpoint and get a new 90 days and then get my extension of 1 year (to stay longer also :-) I suppose multiple 1 year extension of stay do not exist?
June 19, 201115 yr No you can not get 90 day visa entry from Immigration Office. And I suspect more than one piece of paper is required for extension of stay so best to make a border run and then 60 days later apply for one year extension of stay with proper paperwork from University. Yes they can be done on top of each other if still a qualified student.
