Sweaty Thai People

Featured Replies

Has anyone else noticed that when THais sweat they perspire from their noses rather than on their temples as we would do. My children are nose sweaters so I guess they got the THai gene on that one. What about your half- Thai kids ? Are they nose sweaters or temple sweaters ? Anyone noticed sweating characteristics of the people in other countries within Asia ? I'm sure Indians are temple sweaters so it can't be an Asian thing to be a nose sweater.

I like it when my kids do it. It looks quite cute !:D

Interesting observations.

My unofficial survey last week. Four people. Sweating from back and forehead. All doing same activity. No nose sweat.

Maybe the most of the people you see publicly picking their noses are actually just sopping up the sweat?

When it's hot outside I sweat from every pore without prejudice.

He does, he is a Thai, he will tell you all about it soon.

It was part of the citizen process.

so are you saying that on becoming a Thai you also become a nose sweater at the same time. Very interesting. There is no mention of this in the ' camerata guide ' . Maybe they don't want us to know.

Phetchabun, Surin, Buriram and Korat.

Are you a Thai?

I live in Dubai, Indians are 'everywhere' sweaters but it's bloody hot, it's pouring off me just walking across the road to the shops!

Can't say I have noticed the nose thing but now I will be checking everyone's nose!

Same here...but i find if i just relax and not think about the hot weather im ok..

But woe behold if i start or try any physical activity .even some thing simple like reaching for a beer and tilting it to my lips.

Then i start sweating like a pedophile in a playground !!

It's true. I just made the Mrs sweat ;) and it started from the nose..........she's Laotian, but MIL is Thai, best topic of the day.

Perhaps a connection between the wet noses and the custom of nose kissing?

Oh, honey, you're making my schnozzle all juicy!

Sweat dries by the time it runs down long noses.

You know what, I've never noticed this phenomenon, but boy will I be looking out for it now.

I am a naturalized Thai, not ethnic Thai, yes.

I have a Thai dog. His nose is always wet. :D

It’s called hyperhidrosis and is triggered for example by spicy food which would explain Thais propensity to it.

Or maybe Thai noses are more clean with open nose pores that allow sweating.

If you are a Scot, it may be best to avoid all references to socks ;)

It's part of the interview by special branch...they watch you intently throughout the whole process, when, and only when, you begin to sweat from the nose, is your application finally approved. This may be why some have been waiting for years....they sweat from the wrong place. Someone should tell them really, it's not fair to keep them hoping against hope like that.

Are you sure they arent just sniffing from a hot chilli they just had. My wife always says "not hot" afetr eating some food and then her nose starts to run!!

Although I sweat like a shower, I've never noticed significant perspiration from the feet, despite being Scottish

I have noticed it, but never gave it much thought.

(He is talking about the skin on the outside of their noses by the way). :whistling:

it's sort of like where you would start to sweat from at first. For sure if you are doing a lot of activity then it will be pouring off you but at first maybe not too much and then you can see.

no no no , you misunderstand. You can clearly see sweat forming on the bridge of the nose. I did not mean getting a runny nose after eating something spicey.
