"Democrats Or Thaksin?" - PM Abhisit Turns Up Heat On Rivals As Vote Beckons

The point is the Democrats are just running a smear campaign.

They have been for the last 2 1/2 years its become so obvious that nobody even believes it anymore.

The fact they the military got involved well mmm.

Ah, so you think;

a ) the truth is a smear?

b ) that what the other side is doing for 2 1/2 years is not a true smear?

Ludicrous statement.

Agree with you, the smear campaign was run by Sondhi, the democrats are only guilty of sitting by the side and doing nothing. Which obviously was the right thing to do, because when one sees what's happening now that the democrats are "in charge" ...sweet revenge for Sondhi.

Sam Moon : The PR Man

By The Nation

Published on November 19, 2008

The man who has been helping ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra with his latest gimmicks is not an unfamiliar face at all. Sam Moon, a member of the board of advisers to Thaksin's Building a Better Future Foundation, was in Bangkok three years ago to attend the "Asia Leadership Forum" organised by Thailand Elite and Thaksin's AIS.

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2008/11/19/headlines/headlines_30088758.php
This is Sam Moon's profile:

Sam Moon has lived in and worked across Asia for the past 23 years working for The Economist, Dow Jones and his own company in partnership with BusinessWeek. Mr. Moon first met Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra 16 years ago and has remained in contact with him over the years.

(I have been wondering for the past few years why The Economist's and Dow Jones' editorials have been so superficially and passionately negative against Thailand!!!)

The issue about the quoted article in the Economist is that it has no by-line.

As pointed out in the article --- her handlers aren't letting her say anything on her own. However, if you take the article to be true, you can't call the Dem message a smear campaign. The article seems to point out that Yingluck/PTP won't be getting a majority and that the largest "minnow" will be going with the Dems. They failed to note that PTP said they only want 1 and 2 MP seat parties as allies.

Even the Economist article (which should clear up the myth that the 2006 coup ousted an elected PM, leans pretty heavily towards Thaksin. http://www.economist.com/node/6767105

Sondhi isn't seeing his revenge, he is taking a revenge with the No Campaign,

and if anything is stupidly handing the election to Thaksin.

So his 'revenge' will be to create his own worst nightmare.

It seems when he was shot,it caused some logic segment of his brain to shut down.

The democrats owe their present position to Sondhi

Sondhi's agenda has always been based on revenge

But at that time (the coup, the rigged election that followed) it didn't really matter that the yellow demonstration were just based on a personal vendetta, as long as it can serve the democrats interests.

And they call Thaksin a bad guy ....

The title of this topic is somewhat misleading. It should say 'Democrats or Pheu Thai. K. Thaksin is not in the picture. Amazing, isn't it? It's only four weeks ago k. Thaksin said so.

"Thailand's Thaksin Would Welcome Amnesty But Denies Political Ambition

Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra says he would like to come back to Thailand if his sister wins elections in early July, but that he has not decided whether he would stay in the country.

Interviewed by Radio Australia at his luxury home in Dubai, Mr. Thaksin said he has no ambition to return to political power and finds it convenient to run his international business empire from the Persian Gulf nation."

Yes, the election following the coup was rigged. The PPP were dissolved because of that.

Correct in 1!

To think it was one man's need for revenge that brought down the corruption that Thaksin represented is pretty amazing though!

Lets see how the democrats will fare without Sondhi.

So far the future doesn't look that bright.

And again --- to place Sondhi alone as the reason that Thaksin is gone from Thailand seems very strange.

In an election all political parties are striving for votes, 'fighting' each other. NPP (aka New Politics Party) is one of those. K. Sondhi of PAD fame was one of the founding fathers, but has since withdrawn from it. There's still influence between the two, like UDD / PTP.

The Democrats stand on their own in this election, just like PTP, BJT, etc., etc.. You might just wonder if maybe PTP has some outside influence supporting them, just as the DEM's may have inside support ;)

I see the PAD posters on Jaransanitwong road featuring various animals have been altered slightly, with the words Sonthi and Jamlong written alongside the buffalo and dog!
