Who cares!!!!!

Look at the results when he is was in office and since then!!!! Was your life better if you have property as a foreigner? Who threatened the housing corp setup (clue: not him)? Who has talked about Thaksin's corruption but can't even produce the growth he did WITH his corruption.....I'll go with the guy that makes 100 bucks and gives me 25, over the talkers who borrow 50 bucks and gives me nothing.

The thais know this, that's what the "reds" ALWAYS WIN! One wonders how some many naive fellow Westerners don't get this.....so how's your business done since the coup? or your home price?

His sister's gonna win....he may or may not come back....but the guys steering the country into the mekong will be gone and that's all that matters.

What results:

- One million Baht village fund mostly wasted, very little spent wisely on upgarding village resources, lots spent on mobile phones etc?

- Large numbers of rural and other poor folks in greater debt?

- Built an airport to a 35 year old (and poor) design, massive corruption opportunity, several massive corruption charges against thaksin outstanding? An opportunist of the greatest order!

- Intimidated the judiciary, the electoral commission etc. Installed two puppets as PM, all for his selfish ends, nothing to do with what was best for Thailand.

Corruption:

- So you support on-going massive corruption for Thailand? No country is free of corruption but those which have very low corruption are certainly better off.

- Without thaksins corruption there would have been billions of Baht available for education, infrastructure upgrade and lots more.

Is your business better off:

- I'm trying to get my kids to look at the big picture (and I'm having success), not just the 'what's in it for me in the way of a small one off sweetener'.

- Every businessman knows that business doesn't come with guarantees, anything can happen to the market, to prices, more competition from Vietnam, China, etc., currency rates change, etc., and lots of it is outside the total control of any government. So do you want a free market - democracy and capitalism, or do you want total control - communism...your choice.

- Do you really believe that the big picture government policies should be geared around you!

As mentioned by other posters, globally business was in boom years whilst thaksin was raiding the treasury. And further many credible economists Thai and non-Thai have explained that thaksin's economic policies long-term were unsustainable and damaging.

- A final question - how much progress did thaksin achieve to get the poor much closer to a situation whereby they can have a good quality of life through there own productivity. Please give an answer without a comment about what abhsisit has or hasn't done, which is of course a subject worth discussion at another time.

Why wouldn't they believe that?

He paid off the IMF Loan out of his own pocket and personally paid for every surgical operation whose real costs exceeded 30 baht.

.

And he's going to buy all of our kids a B30k Samsung-tablet computer, just like Ms Yingluck's one, even though he's almost-broke because "the government took away my money". what a kind-hearted & generous old gent !

i think i saw that is was tablet pc for the 1 million NEW students. that would mean the 6 year olds just starting school? If so that would be the last group that should get a pc since they will not be able to use them very well or take care of them.

As we move into the last week of the campaigning the ever shrewd Thaksin is now trying to allay fears of chaos and protest if the Peua Thai get in, he's going for the undecided voter who thinks that voting for PT isn't good in the long run because they'll bring him home and the country will erupt.

But just last week he was speaking about being home in time for his daughter's wedding in December. His freedom bid has been his (and his party's) number 1 goal for several years now, they are on record plenty of times saying so confidently, they've campaigned on it, now they are switching their story.

It's nice to hear some remorseful words from Thaksin, but it's a bit late, we don't trust him, by apologising is he finally admitting that in fact he was guilty all along?

Do the words Global recession mean anything to you?

Or Thailand's GDP growth DURING said recession? But bf2002 fully supports Thaksin's corruption. Go figure!

Thaksin's supporters couldn't give a dam_n about Thailand's GDP growth, or what's good for the country. It all boils down to getting their hands on some money now. They basically share the same traits as he does.

I highly doubt they would. It is a part of the Thai culture to set themselves apart from the world. They believe that they have the best of every thing and the out side world has nothing to do with it. The concept of being affected by the out side world is as foreign to them as the concept of the moon is made of green cheese.
