What are the best plants to form a high screen 2-3 mtrs high .Along a wall and 6 mtrs from a property.

2-3 metres? Big hedge! Guessing you've got rather persistant neighbors and/or extended family. I'm readin' ya mate...

To get that height in the shortest time(12 months if you loook after them I reckon) I've gone successfully with bougainvillia. Grows super fast, can survive periods of neglect, I think attractive and the thorns are a bonus in my situation, although the locals don't seem to feel much pain after a few lao kow shots.

Available cheaply everywhere. I get a great price of 10 baht each on 10-20 plants of about a foot(30 cm) high. This is from Khlong 15 on the Rangsit/ Nakon Nayok road. No need to buy bigger as they grow so fast.

I always think you should invest more in the hole than in the plant. If it's feasable dig a half metre around and down and fill it with really good, well fertilised soil. The hole should cost you 20 baht.

You'll be posting here on where to buy a chainsaw within 6 months.

ps - only thing that'll kill 'em is being waterlogged. Gotta have draining soil.

Reason for edit - ps

There's a kind of small-leaved bamboo which grows quickly and makes a good screen (though it does need frequent trimming). Usually sold in paper pots containing two or three plants each.
