For those who wish to improve their Thai there's a fun quiz show on Channel 9 at the above times, there's 8 choices to a question and the contestants must guess which of the 8 choices are correct, it could be one to eight, for example 'Which of the following 8 countries have a star in their flag?' There is then a list of 8 countries.

The title of the programme means ' The royal carriage has come', the contestants win a car if they are correct with all 8 choices. The word เกย in the title means a step I believe, used to enter and descend from the carriage, so perhaps the title means 'Step up to the carriage.'

There's an amusing old tale regarding a royal carriage. An ancient belief holds that the person a riderless royal horse and carriage stops in front of will be the next king. One day a fortune teller told a man that indeed the carriage would stop in front of him. Delighted, he stopped working and spent all his money waiting for the happy day. Unfortunately his money ran out so he was reduced to begging, however his luck seemed to turn when one day, the royal carriage appeared and stopped in front of him. But alas, the present king, as healthy as can be,stepped out to inspect the town.( What had happened to the driver I don't know!)

The moral being of course don't wait for things to happen, if you want success, work for it.

Anyway, back to the programme, for intermediate learners of Thai I think the questions are often understandable, and if the learner has a Thai partner, she could help out too.The annoying factor is the number of adverts though!
