Cat Cdma

Anyone else having constant hangs and interrupts with one of these CAT internet dongles? I can barely open this page to see if any of you have the same problem - let alone watch a youtube clip. I usually have to let a youtube clip load (no worries about that, TIT) - but now even an ordinary webpage times out. Google.co.th, facebook, stuff like that will load sometimes. Hit and miss. I kind of expect this kind of thing on a Friday night when all the school kids are at the internet cafes using all the bandwidth in town for gaming, but this has been going on all week.

Obvious solutions like moving to the window that sort of faces the tower, reboot, disconnecting and using another usb port of course are already tried, and the built-in Windows networking fixing stuff.

I'm using a MC727 USB modem connected to my iMac , with a high external roof antenna , full signal , approx 6 KM from the CAT tower in a rural area with Ive been told by a CAT engineer 4 other CAT CDMA subscribers using the same tower, to night speeds a little slower than normal, web pages and youtube loading ok. Generally over the past few weeks there's been different results on a regular basis . I currently find changing my DSN improved the stability . The CAT standard DSN I was using was ... 61.19.245.245 - 61.19.245.246 but currently found these to be better

Thanks, giving it a try with alternate dns servers, but it seems the same. Even at 5:30 a.m.

BTW, the dongle I'm using is an EC150, OS win7 32bit.

Went down to the CAT office here. The guy at the counter was actually really nice. He checked it on my laptop, then plugged the dongle in there on one of their office machine to test, then pulled my SIM card out and tried it in another dongle. All with the same results. He admitted he didn't know what the problem was, but asked for my mobile number so he could get back to me. He called an hour or so later and said there turns out to be some expansion projects going on somewhere down the line, and it will likely be like this the rest of the month. Not real excited to hear that, but nice of him to be frank with me about the issue.
