Acer All In One Z3730

Featured Replies

Is anyone using one of these computers?

I bought one last week fitted with Windows7 and since it claims to have a 5 watt sound system..( which the reviews say is good) I expected a good reproduction.

With everything at maximum the sound is very poor...no volume to speak of at all...my mobile phone is louderThe dealer has said it is what would be expected from the unit.

There appear to be people on the web who have also had sound problems...some have said a driver is nessesary!!....cant believe that a 'all in one'system would need a driver to be installed for a built in item.

So...does anyone out there have any helpful comments??

gots one, works good but becareful to click on speaker symple on bottom rt of screen. mine is set on about 50%. the buttons on the keyboard also control the volumn. good lluck

What did you expect?

All computers (desktops, laptops, netbooks) require device drivers for hardware to function properly...

Sorry...but I dont agree with you on matter.

Its supposed to be an 'all in one' and I expect to be able to operate it straight away.

If I bought a car I wouldnt expect to have to fit the steering wheel before I drove it.

Interesting analogy, but inherently flawed. You can't drive an automobile without a steering column, but a computer is still very usable even without sound. It doesn't matter whether or not you agree with what I said. Either you accept reality for what it is, or you don't. It's that simple.

Your Acer All-in-one PC is no different from any standard desktop PC or laptop. The only thing that makes it unique is the "design". Everything else -- hardware, software, including the installation process is done the same way as any other machine out there. Just because it's packaged differently, doesn't mean the rules change.

I'm sorry your audio isn't working the way you expected. Most of the time it's caused by bad or incompatible device drivers. All you have to do is install proper drivers for it. The first place to look for drivers is the Acer website. If you can't fix it yourself, take the machine back to the person who set it up for you and let them know what the problem is.

Just remember, we don't live in a 'perfect world' where everything just works out of the box. If we did, there wouldn't be any computer support forums on the web.

Hmm,,,,anyhow ..I downloaded the 'apparently needed' audio driver and the volume has perked up.......but I still don't see why,if it was needed for the advertised performance, why Acer could not have done it at the onset.

3rd party sound card = 3rd party driver, the driver should be included on the disc provided by Acer for the machine.

I am planning to buy of these... and according to Acer brochure, it's coming with external speakers.

Another thing you can do to improve volume -

Click the Start button, type mmsys.cpl in the search box, then press Enter.

In the Communications tab, select Do nothing

Click 'Apply' and then OK.
