French drug suspect arrested by Pattaya Police with loaded firearm

PATTAYA: -- A foreign resident of Pattaya was arrested on drug offences over the weekend by Pattaya Police. Armed with arrest warrant number 374/2554 dated 1st July 2011, Police conducted a raid of a house in Soi 13 off the Tappraya Road in Jomtien where they detained Mr. Alexander Davis aged 28 who holds a French Passport and also claimed to hold a British Passport which was not produced. Inside the room, Police found a firearm, 0.47g of Crystal Methamphetamine, Marijuana seeds and 5 small Marijuana Plants

470 mg, less than half a gram: this is death penalty here.

"The English Gardener in a room"

No, it isn't. It is less than a year.

Edit to add: Any reason we might get a longer stay is the fact that he had a combination of drugs and could be accuses of being a dealer.

I think the gun worries me more than the drugs possesion.

Why would a freelance website designer need to have a gun in his apartment ?

For this type of offence, would it still be possible to buy your way out of trouble ? Just wondering.

TIT, you can buy your way out of anything... the only reason these people are in the papers is because they havent paid up

Thats exactly my impression of justice in Thailand, when applied to motoring offences, minor thefts, assaults where not too much damage is done, etc. etc..

However firearms offences might be difeerent when combined with drugs possession ?

There must be some upper limit to how "the system" works surely ?
