Keyboard App/ 2 Languages ? Android

Featured Replies

Read many keyboard reviews but too few mention the ability to switch languages easily. Can be particularly cumbersome when it has word predictive capabilities.

I guess many members on TV use 2 or more languages.

Eg. is Swype good for that?

What was for you the decisive issue to settle for your keyboard?

Swype does not support Thai, but I love it otherwise.

There is a keyboard called TSwipe that supports Thai and supports swiping if you pay for it. It's on the Android Market. It's 100baht, or 200baht depending on the kind of registration. You can try it using all the features free for a few days (I think 15) to decide if you like it. The swiping isn't as good as Swype, but it has several other great features. However the developer is constantly improving it So I switch between the two.

Assuming you have Android 2.2 or higher, you can select multiple input languages (settings, Locale and text, Text settings, select the keypad you are using, select Input languages, select any/all languages you want to have available) and then use the spacebar to switch input languages on the fly. The languages must be installed on your phone, in case that wasn't obvious.

Note that this is NOT THE SAME as switching between keypad options (i.e. switching between Samsung keypad and Arch Thai keypad, for instance; that requires you to go through Settings, Locale and text, Select input method.).

The few localized (here in Thailand) Android phones I've used have this option enabled so you can toggle between English and Thai on-the-fly by "swiping" (not to be confused with 'swyping') the space-bar.

For the next batch of questions please give all the details of your handset including Android rev., and be very, very specific about what it is you are trying to do.

Your phone, if purchased in Germany, may not have Thai installed.

1. I bought a German DesireZ Serial ZA7272,softw 2.2.1

2. webkit browser 3.1 using firefox

should I get Chrome instead??

2. no Thai needed, only switch Engl/German, so you seem to have answered this subject already.

3. I guess the switch to Engl will also block predictions in German.

Will test it.

Like the QWERTY keyboard, but still slow with it. Touch keyboard, I have too many misses, frustrating, Swype ought to be more precise and faster because the finger stays firmly on the screen, less wavering of hand & finger, so my theory.

BTW don't know what words to use to search for this app=

the login/data/ fields are often tiny stuck in a corner , very cumbersome to enlarge AND to keep centered.

In short= is there an apps which takes me to the data field plus enlarges it sufficiently
