Hi

My name is Liam O Connor. I am a citizen of Ireland. My fiancee is Thai and it was our intention to get married this month in Yasothon. However, recent correspondence with the registry office in Yasothon informed us that I would need official confirmation from Ireland that I am single and not already married in Ireland. It was our hope to get married this month but it is too short a time to get the necessary documentation from Ireland. Can anyone tell me is what the Registry office correct? Is there any way around it?

I can get relevant forms it is just that we will have to rearrange our plans.

Thanks and Regards

Liam

You need to sign an affirmation of freedom to marry and have this witnessed by the Irish consul in Bangkok. You then have this translated into Thai and the translation authenticated by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

You can then present this authenticated translation to any ampur (district office) in Thailand and they will marry you.

See here. for details and the documents you will need to provide to the consul.
