susanschwaiger
Thanks for many's advice, we will have a new maid soon. One question though------In Thailand, normally how long will it take a cleaner to clean an apt like this: 105 SM, brand new: 1 big living room, 2 bedrooms with shower rooms. A balcony of about 6 SM All stone floor. No need to wash plates or iron; but need to polish sofa and wipe LCD screens And, does your cleaner also clean the inside of drawers/wardrobe/cabinet etc? Our current cleaner does, but I think it is not necessary or maybe she has too much time left ? Thanks SS
luudee
That's a tough question Susan. Do you have kids ? Pets ? How messy/neat are you and your partner ? Do you have windows and doors always open during the day (lots of dust) ? I have a 4 bed room house and 2 kids. 4 people. There is no way for a thai maid to clean everything every day. She does dishes and ironing as well (I separate the close and stuff/setup the washing machine). That way white shirts stay white .. We have a schedule, where she cleans the windows only 2 times per months, ironing, etc, is only about once a week. Cleaning the inside of drawers about once a months, or as needed. Thais are not as efficient as laborers in Europe and other western countries. Their work pace is like slow motion ... In my case that's fine as she and her husband (he takes care of the garden and outside property) live with us (maids quarters). My current workers are Cambodian, and I find them much harder working than any Thai I had in the 10+ years I employed a maid/gardener. They are much more appreciative and over all more pleasant people (at least in my experience). Good Luck, rudi
PattayaParent
How long would it take you to do it and then multiply by 10.

Only my hubby and I live in this apt and we are both tidy. We never have things lying around and we dont have a lot of stuff either. Our currenlt cleaner normally takes 3.5 hours to clean the whole apt. Of course, to my standard, she is a quite slow worker.... So, guess the new one can do a bit faster... ))) SS

If you offered a lump sum it would be done in 1 hour which is more likely the actual time needed.

Better than gutting chickens all day for 200bht.
