russell362002
I did post a rather lenghty message yesterday, can't find it today, so I'll try again. I am wondering if in Phuket it is possible to convert bahts to dollars or to buy traveller's cheques in American (or pound sterling, etc) values. I ask this because I have been working in central Thailand at a public school (legally, with a work permit) and I have quite a number of bahts built up. My concern is this, if I had to leave the country quickly, I might be in a jam. I have heard that you can only transport 10000 bahts out of the country in hard currency. If I had to leave with bahts, are they easily converted in other countries. I have some foreign exchange certificates which will allow some conversion with ease. I have, as well, stamped pay receipts from the school where I work. Will this allow me to convert to dollars or buy traveller's cheques? Does anyone know or can advise me/ I would prefer to do this in Krabi or Phuket if possible. Sure would appreciate any advice.
Voo Doo
What I know and what I used to do was converting Baht to € or US $ at the International Airport in any Bank Exchange. It wasn't big sum but few hundred at the time. With all receipts I don't think you will have any problem.
