Is there a 3G dongle for laptops or a 3G Modem MiFi type device available in BKK with unlimited 3G I have seen some but most are offering about 5GB of 3G.

Anyone seen unlimited and price per month from any provider?

Have you tried both? Any comparison in service quality/Speed?

I am assuming both have sukhumvit area pretty much covered.

TOT Superload 42MB looks interesting but sadly not unlimited...

Tks

I included a link to a coverage map; you should be able to figure out what sort of coverage your area might have.

I've used another TOT MVNO, iMobile 3GX, and found the service to be acceptable. I do not use that much 3G data, ~ 500 MB to 1 GB per month in a typical smartphone application.

Maybe you should experiment with it first?

Also make sure to review the T's & C's re: definition of "unlimited". For Truemove, "unlimited" means some fixed amount of 3G, like say 3 GB, followed by "unlimited" 3G at 256 Kbps. Obviously these networks cannot support fixed-line (DSL/DOCSIS) broadband replacement (torrents at 250 GB per month). Finally, upload speed may be limited. I've noticed a recent change in Truemove's 3G network in that they seem to be limiting upload speeds.

Yeh Ill pick one up this week to have a go. Only need it as a backup to DSL.

Can't seem to see a colour key to the location map you provided but my soi is light purple so i guess that means ok...

Dunno about 3G - I use Edge with AIS as it covers most of the country, and I only use it for email while I am out.

But I do have two MIFI's

First is a D-Link, which is simple, with only one button. But just would not connect - maybe one time in 20 of turning it on and off. Fot it at the Mall, Bang Kae

So I got a Huwai which works perfectly every time. Connects fast, and easy to set up, easy to get on the WIFI it creates. Battery time is pretty good. Got at the Mall, Ta Phra.

Then I looked in the D-Link and changed the setting from 3G to 2G, and now it works perfectly also. Dunno how it would be with a 3G sim card.

Both machines cost 4000 baht, and cover all possible bandwidths, to take any sim. But asking in shops for a MIFI drew only blank looks. Even in the shops that actaully sold them. Where I got the D-link I had seen it the week before and spoke to a savvy guy there. The next week no one in the shop had any idea what it was, and they swore it would have to be connected via USB to work (it does have a USB mode if you don't want to use the WIFI, which should extend the battery time). The shop with the Huwai did not have the slightest idea what it was. The AIS shop looked at the D-link and shook their heads vigroously saying it will NOT work. No, they did not know what it was, but it WON'T work (it did).

Hope that helps.
