Chivas Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 So cutting through all the past announcements and let downs by numerous providers are Dtac really going to provide in laymans terms "a fast speed" for net access via a sim card either in a mobile or by way of a dongle ?? Speeds of what can be expected ??
lomatopo Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 In theory, ~ 14 Mega-bits per second down, 5.76 Mega-bits per second up. YMMV. Best guess, on average: 3.5 Mbps down/1.0 Mbps up. But even 1 Mbps down and 384 Kbps up are satisfactory for most mobile broadband applications. This is not necessarily a fixed line (DSL/DOCSIS) broadband replacement technology, even though some might wish it were.

If could get even 1.5 Mbps down should be able to stream TV from Uk or is that speed not likely to be achievable from international servers ?? PS I'm no technophobe !!

I suspect that application is better suited for fixed-line broadband. DTAC has shown a propensity for profitability so would expect fair-use limits and pricing/packaging might limit your viewing?

Yes have got TOT but speed rarely fast enough to stream where we are. Maybe too far from exchange though not exactly in the boonies. Willing to pay good money (within reason) if Dtac up to scratch.
