My 1 month old samsung cooper/ace has been shutting down occasionally and I reboot it by disconnect battery, but I just read about this issue on another forum. the following is a copy and paste addressing this issue.....

"Upgrade it to gingerbread firmware (2.3.4 - XXKPH) or else you will eventually have the aforementioned Wifi Sleep of Death if you leave wifi switched on at all.

I did the upgrade last weekend and its like I have a brand new phone again."

Now....being a dummie/newbie with smart phones, how do I go about doing the upgrade?? go into a shop or the samsung dealer/vendor where I bought it and would it effect my waranty??

Changing roms may affect your warranty. In that same forum there should be a guide on how to install the custom roms.

My wife´s Cooper never had this problem and it is on original rom.

Go to Samsung's website and download Samsung Kies. Follow the instructions and update the phone yourself, if an official Samsung update is available.

It's actually not that big of a problem, but could get worse. While surfing for a fix, I found this tutorial on youtube......but I'm afraid to attempt it. What it does is speed up and improve graphics, sound and lots of other things. check it out....

What version of Android do you have? Settings, About phone, Firmware version.

Can describe the failure mode in more detail? What happens, exactly? How often? Does it happen when charging? Do you have WiFi enabled? Connected? Using WEP? Why will it get worse?

I'm thinking you are 2.3.3 which is the latest version. I don't think there is an 'official' 2.3.4 release for your model. I use a Cooper occasionally, and have not seen any similar issues, nor have the three other people I know who have this model. You might consider returning the phone for warranty repair?

Custom ROMs always look so cool, until you discover the 150 bugs that the developer (a teenager somewhere) forgot to QA. Ask yourself why they release nightly builds. Some of the bugs are pretty funny; like no WiFi, no incoming calls, cannot hang up calls, crappy battery life, camera doesn't work, and on and on, but the theme is cool, it's "blazingly fast", the CPU can be overclocked 225% and the "Quadrant Score" is off the hooks. ( I am running a custom ROM. So there goes my credibility. :whistling: )

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SAMSUNG PRODUCT AS LONG AS I LIVE!!! They have some of the snazziest products packed with attractive trick features, but they don't strand the test of time. Samsung products I have/had and the aqssociated problems (in order):

Samsung Dual SIM Phone: This was an expensive phone with the standard 1 year guarantee. After thirteen months, the screen went out dead. Cost to repair at Samsung Center: 1,200 baht. I expected it to last longer.

Samsung MP3 Player: This was a high end 32 GB MP3 player. It was quite expensive. I had it for two months and it developed a software glitch. They refused to send me firmware flash file for a do-it-yourself restart and instead required me to send the unit to the Samsung Center for repair. They honored the warranty, but I had to pay shipping and was without the unit almost 2 months. I expected better for such an expensive player.

Samsung Big Screen LCD TV: the TV worked fine, but one of the important buttons on the remote was sticking and non-functional after 2 months. Samsung informed me that the remote is not covered by the 1 year warranty! What? Try using a modern TV without the remote. Cost for a new one: 1,200 baht (with a lot of fighting, as they wanted 2,200 baht).

Samsung Washer: After 4 years, the centrifuge motor went out. It was guaranteed for 5 years, but Samsung will only honor the guarantee if they do all the troubleshooting and repair. Since the basic 1 year warranty was out, their service charge for inspecting, troubleshooting and "free" motor replacement: 1,000 baht. I can take one of these machines apart and put it back together blindfolded, but if I do the work, no warranty!

Problem-Free Samsung Products I have owned: NONE.

The washer was the last straw; I'm forever finished with Samsung!
