An interesting insight as to how the judicial standards may well be adjusted in the coming months methinks.

As an aside have all the pawns who were arrested been give, " Get out of jail free cards" yet, or are they still awaiting trial ? I suppose they don't have the wherewithal to hire Amsterdam and being pawns they are really y of no consequence to the big boys are they ?..

Reminds me of the Kipling poem

Tommy

I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o' beer,The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I: O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away"; But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play, The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play, O it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play.

I went into a theatre as sober as could be,They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;They sent me to the gallery or round the music-'alls,But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls! For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, wait outside";

But it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide, The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide, O it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide. Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleepIs cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bitIs five times better business than paradin' in full kit.

Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?" But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll, The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll, O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll. We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too,But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints,Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;

While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, fall be'ind", But it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind, There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind, O it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind. You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.

Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our faceThe Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.

For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!" But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot; An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please; An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!

There are prophetic passages in that poem, beware .

Nice BIASED Headlines. I wonder if anyone checked the archives for news flashes and see if a headline about 2 years ago might say something like ... "MP Apisit Lost Election, Now Presiding as Thai PM Through His Networks & Nepotism"

You do enjoy flogging a dead horse dont you? Abhisit was voted in as Prime Minister by parliament, put whatever spin you like on it, it was a democratic process.

You speak of nepotism when the new government PM is the ex-PM's sister? Get a life.

Why not? Why so many slamming Thailand over this? It's not like our home countries haven't allowed evil people to run things.

What!!! Suspected terrorists encouraging the people to "let Bangkok burn" - very savoury character indeed!!! You shouldn't be defending criminals like him :realangry: .

a man in prison is elected an MP - that is really the way to impress the rest of the world and to ensure true justice for its citizens (the poor ones ) ???????

Perhaps a page is being taken from the rest of the world?

Northern Ireland and South Africa are just two places from 'the rest of the world' that spring quickly to mind where an interred 'terrorist' has ended up as MP, even president :whistling:

I'm sure historically minded TV members will add to this list.

Could it be that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter?

The problem is the news never get you the right information. At the very beginning it was said that one who has been sent to prison by a court had no right to vote, and, if one does not vote he has lost his party membership, ergo, cannot become a PM anymore. If that WAS as simple and TRUE, then the story would have ended there. So why do the news reporter not know that it actually is not as simple as that, or why do they initially come up with news pretending it was as simple as that if they knew it wasn't? Once he is an MP he will benefit from immunity no matter for what he will be convicted. They had to wait until the house was dissolved before being able to get him where he belongs. Let's hope Yingluck will have him back off a bit as he could become an embarrassment for Phuea Thai in case Phuea Thai is serious about all what they say and promise.

That George W. Bush was not actually in prison when he was elected is only a git of money and influence. But, wait a minute. who ARE you people. This is a great place to live or we wouldn't be here, I assume, so shut the---up and let the Thais run their own country.

What did GWB do before he was elected that he should have been in jail?

"shut the---up and let the Thais run their own country." - Yay for Red Democracy. No criticism allowed.

We are sharing our opinions on the matter - YOU KNOW, what forum's are for.

I can see that a big majority of posters are quite rightly appalled at these shenanigans. Thailand IS a great place to live but it does itself no favours with this type of obscene behaviour!!!!:annoyed:
