I found a 1 way flight from London to Bangkok yesterday for less than 300 pounds but today it had gone. :o

It was for Nov 6th and was direct which is important, I couldn't do another stopover.

Can anyone reccommend any good sites to find regular similar deals?

How fast does one have to be? ...I don't have a credit card because I hate being in debt so I will have to give cash to a friend and get them to book it for me.

One other thing, wasn't there a new law passed last year that said you can only enter the country if you have at least $100,000 in the bank?

You can get Eva Airways hybrid Business/Economy Class return now for less than GBP 700. MommaMoog found that fare last week.

What, one way??? :o

The clue was in the word "return" Scamp. :D

Entry requirements are for you..............30 day on arrival stamp 10000 baht or if you have a tourist visa (i.e 60 day stay) then 20k baht to fund your stay..................100:1 you/ll be asked to show proof at Immigration upon your arrival though.

My things have changed since I last arrived out there May 2004.

How am I supposed to prove it?

Bank statement? ...What happens if you don't have proof?

I'll be flying one way, will they question that also?

Hello Ashley, didn't know you were a member!

Yes, my name is what you said only you missed out the letter 'e', you should have really PM'd me that question but nevermind. :o

Ash, ladies and gents, is my best mates son's mate - a good lad who has been seduced by the charms of Thailand and more recently it seems, ThaiVisa.

Welcome aboard mate. :D

If you are coming for up to 6 months then you want a single or double entry tourist visa..............this will negate any potential problem of arriving on a one way ticket.

If its going to be a years stay ( :o ) then apply to the Thai Consulate in Hull for a Non Immigrant O visa based upon visiting family and friends (more details from the Hull website) this will give you 90 days stay at a time.............no 30 day extensions required.

Chances are you wont be asked to show proof of funds................if you are then cash/travellers cheques are acceptable.

Or buy a LHR-BKK-HKK with a 2-week stop-over, and ask them for say a 50% contribution ? They save and you save. By the way - it's at least 20-25* F hotter here than London right now - so Dr Ricardo advises plenty of liquids after you get here , purely for medicinal reasons, of course :D:o

Don't worry about that Ricardo. :D

Anyways, I've just booked a flight, I'll be there next weekend.

I've got a decent airline too for once instead of being a bargain basement hitchiker on Eva or Kuwait which is nice.

I won't give away any more info than that as I have too many hidden enemies on here and I'm paranoid. :o

One way without a visa you won't even be permitted on the flight.

So despite having a valid passport, paid ticket, no criminal record, and sufficient funds in my bank, I will not be permitted to fly to Thailand and relax with friends while I await my starting date for work in Hong Kong.

Surely I just fill in a 30 day visa form on the plane stating my length of stay and next destination.

This is quite serious and I would be grateful for a fast reply from anyone who can elaborate.

Could depend on what Airline you are traveling with. They might just ask you to sign a waiver etc and show that you have enough funds to support yourself. If you had a ticket BKK-HKG then there would be no problem.See if you can get your Travel Agent to give you print out ...... :o

I did actually manage one-way from Korea to Thailand one time, sans visa, but it did take a bit of fast talking & smiling. And some outright lying along the lines of "oh yes, I do have my return ticket somewhere......" Had a suit on too.

When I got in to bkk they just went ahead and stamped me in.
