NANNING, CHINA (BNO NEWS) -- At least seven people lost their lives after a minibus in southwestern China plunged into a ravine, officials said Wednesday.

According to initial investigations, the driver of the 18-seat minibus, which was overloaded with 26 passengers, stopped to avoid an oncoming vehicle. The bus began sliding backwards on the road of a slopping mountain and ended up rolling down a 54-meter (177-foot) deep ravine.
