Hey readers,

I am new to forums in general so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to put this post.

I will be arriving in Thailand in september and after a couple of months exploring the north of the country and some of Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia I wiil want to but a sea kayak to Island hop with for a further couple of months in the south (Phuket etc.).

It will need to come complete with paddle, spray protector and enough storage for a 45 litre rucksack plus a few bits and bobs. (and as funny as this may sound, a lesson in how to use it in a safe basic fashion would be good too).

If anybody has one, will have one or knows someoneor somewhere I can get one I would appreciate the heads up.

Almost all of them rent cheap sit on top boats. The OP mentioned spray protection, so I am assuming he wants a sit inside kayak.

I saw some listed in the classified section here a few months ago. Might be worth a search there?

Also, I'm pretty sure they are for sale at Ocean Marina, south of Jomtien (2 weeks ago they had a demo day and a bunch were lined up on the beach). Probably have some shops in Phuket, I would assume?

Well, Europeans, Brits and Aussies call canoes what Americans call kayaks. The two terms are somewhat interchangeable.

FYI, even on traditional Native American / Canadian canoes (sitting with a single blade paddle) there are spray decks available.

Don't try to shag in a canoe. I tried it once as a teenager. Wasn't pretty (neither was she).
