Camping In Thailand

Featured Replies

I am looking for a list of camp grounds in thailand , i have been to Khao Yai and Tak.

any others that you might know of and info on the camp ground ?

Almost every National Park in Thailand has a camping area.

Do a search on the national Parks.

Its amazing what happens when you put "camping in Thailand" into Google....you should try it

"The best places for camping in Thailand are in the national parks. Almost all of the 76 national parks have at least one camping site. Notable exceptions are Doi Suthep/Doi Pui in Chiang Mai, Hat Jao Mai in Trang, Nam Tok Pliew in Chanthaburi, and Thap Lan in Prachinburi, where camping is not permitted. camping_105.jpgSome parks have tents for rent for just five to ten baht per person per night. You may have to bring your own tent along to many other parks."

Many mountain / hill resorts have smaller areas for camping. I have seen it several times in Kanchanaburi and Suan Pheung.

The one that left Pattaya about 8 months ago ?

a correction on post #3

Chanthaburi's Nam Tok Pliew (also as Namtok Phliu, Namtok Phlio, Namtok Phlieu) does allow campers.

Nice place to break your journey, another 55km south to Trat and take the ferry to Koh Chang; buses heading to Trat will stop at the intersection (sign as pictured) and 2km from there to the park.

They hire out tents, or you may bring your own.

They also have cabins for rent; the camping area we walked to 'On The Mount' (there are three areas with cabins) is on a hill a few hundred m into the park from the main entrance (off highway #3, about 10km past Chanthaburi city) - as per pics, and view out to coast

. . . and swim near the waterfalls accompanied by hundreds of sorobrook carp.

Brought their brochure back - they have them in English as well as Thai

Tent camping available only at Zone 1 - On The Mount

Camp ground tent for rent: for two people 150b/night

Large tent for 8 people 600b per night

And no I haven't camped there - less than 30km from home so day trips only.

Thanks all for the info.

I am going to Petchabun this weekend, on Fridy any other info would be gratefull.

Is there swimming in the area, parks and is there many sites to go see?

and what is the best know park there?

going by the seat of my pants to the area, never been there before wife wants to see the area to

Normal camp areas should be fine but remember people make there livings, often illegally, in the jungle areas of Thailand and can be armed with sling shots to war weapons so use common sense.

We was camping last year in angthong marine park, there was tents and bungalows rent. Day time area was quite busy, but after daily tours ended we felt we have our own private island.. Only thing to complain national parks areas are not allowed drink alcohol, so we had to do our BBQ whith out beer.
