Moving to BKK with work and looking at a car. Not sure about whole process so contacted a local car sales company run by English expat and asked if they would help find and check cars that suit and help with check out and purchase. Their website states that if they sell a car for you then their is a certain sliding scales of charges according to sale price.

My thought and probably rather naively is that they get their comm from sales from the owner much like real-estate agents and houses.

Anyway he recommended a certain car with a stated non negotiable stated price of B1.05M.

Its a private sale and expat owned at present.

Anyway flicking through various car sale ads ( one car/thaicar/taldrod) etc and see same car / same picture/ same description for B975K.

In fairness the English expat claims he has seen car and driven if and so can give me first hand testimony but not sure about a 75K mark up on the advertised price as trying to take a certain amount of advantage .

Fair/ not fair actions and behaviour ???

Obviously if i want the car I would do the right thing and tell the expat I have seen it for 75K less and will buy it from him for that with him collecting his fees from owner but sort of feel like Im being taken advantage of here.

If it was Andy Wing at Expat Motors you talked to, turn around and run ;)

75,000 could be much or little depending on how much you can do yourself and have time to do. Shouldn't be difficult to get the 75 down to 50. Then it's up to you. You normally only need copy of work permit to register a car in your name.

Don't pay all until you see your name in the blue book

Just use the TV classifieds. Buy from a private individual & skip the commissions.
