i will have to go to cambodia for the first time what is the best currency to use there is it us dollars or cambodian money?

Riel for purchases up to a dollar (conversion rate around 4,000 Riel to the dollar)

Dollars for everything else (get change in dollars and Riel, no coins)

Pristine dollar bills only (except for $1 bills which may be slightly used)

Trashed Riel is fine.

The ATMs I saw gave out US dollars so you don't have to take a lot of cash with you.

Agree with comments - I also found it useful to take a small wad of single dollar bills.
