First - I would like to thank all you seasoned expats for your help and/or advise. I am sure for many of us -as difficult as it is sometimes here - it would be a lot harder. I often see when someone mentions

a visa extension that many writers correct them and point out that it is an Extension to stay not a visa extension. I agree but a note of interest -- At Khon Kaen Immigration the machine that gives you a queu number

has option 1 - 90 day report option 2 -- visa extension and option 3 other. What can I say. -- Again many thanks -- hopefully one day I can start to repay the favors with advice.

A visa is something you get from a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate and is used to gain entry into Thailand. Once inside Thailand you get an extension of your permission to stay from immigration.

As said when entering Thailand you get a Permission to Stay.

You extend that Permission at Immigration.
