those weird looking houses near lannabowling at the corner of Ram hospital, inside the moat, are supposed to be haunted.

they've been for sale years and years and nobody seems to be interested.

Maybe because of the price tag??? Someone told me the asking price is 50 million Baht for the corner lot.

Yep that corner plot on inside NW corner of moat is up for 50M baht! blink.gif

re ... The area around Suan Bok Park and Suan Prung Hospital is, according to astrologers who planned the city, bad-luck corner. It used to be an area reserved for storing the dead.

There is the old abandoned house along Bumrungrad Road. It's opposite the side road that goes to the Saiyuri Complex. Apparently haunted, abandoned and ignored.

Go to the farang cemetery late at night when the noise of the 21st century has mellowed. Close your eyes, open your mind and discover who wants to contact you.

The area around Suan Bok Park and Suan Prung Hospital is, according to astrologers who planned the city, bad-luck corner. It used to be an area reserved for storing the dead.Layers of souls are waiting for your visit.

Was asking my husband about the old house on Bumrungrad as he grew up close by. He didn't know except that it was someone's private house and has been empty a very long time. However his aunt might know.

He said if anywhere would be haunted it would be the British Council as it used to be a bank and at least a couple of people were shot there when they tried to hold up the bank. One case he even knows the exact place in the building they were shot. I can imagine him as a bloodthirsty primary school student rushing over there on his bicycle to see the gruesome results!

Yes you are correct 50 million baht. My wife pointed it out to me as we drove past and she says it will never sell, over inflated price.

Though it might be different from our Western perspective, in Thai culture aren't there ghostly spirits all over the place? One of the parts of the chanting of monks during the days of the "funeral" I [enjoy?] is that along with a few comforting words for the audience they are also kindly telling the departed to understand that it's time to move along. One observes something similar when monks are chanting at the sites of traffic accidents. All of which assumes the departed are listening.

No offense taken if I'm mistaken, but isn't there some connection between the Thai reluctance to purchase a second-hand dwelling and the potential for it coming with baggage in the form of bad spirits?

It may stretch credulity, but I do have a few Thai friends who still don't plan to visit Phuket any time soon owing to the souls of the departed from the tsunami who still might be lingering. Not that that has inhibited any farang, many of whom might already be occupants of the next world.

A story I heard about the British Council is that an old member of the Thai staff died in an accident on the way to work one day. The same morning Thai staff heard someone arrive and assumed it was him as the noise was coming from where he normally worked. When they went over to talk to him nobody was there. They then heard about the accident. They believe his spirit continued on its journey to work that day.

Here's a true story for you.

My wife used to have a restaurant on the first ring road close to where the new Dutch Windmill restaurant is now.

One night a kid on a motorcy was killed after he hit a COW which was crossing the road. I never witnessed it but I saw the offerings to his spirit that were left at the side of the road on the footpath where the accident happened.

Anyway a few days later one of the waitresses wnet upstairs to the rooftop seating area and saw a young man sitting at a table, she turned round to get a menu, (10 seconds tops apparantly) and when she turned round again he was gone. It takes at least 30 seconds to depart the place as you have to make it down a flight of steps, but after 10 there was no sign of him :o

The waitress was in such a state of shock she had to be escorted home.

Anyway this is not "Ripley's belive it or not"

Make of the story what you choose.

BTW. He never appeared again to my knowledge

Maybe he jumped over the railing into the paddy field behind the place, sank into the mud and is still there. B)

You seem to have a lot more interest in this subject than others. Any particular reason? Do you know something we don't/

I've always liked fairy tales ever since childhood.smile.gif

"Do I know something you don't?"

How would I know that? unsure.gif
