Coconut Oil

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if this can be found locally? Not the bottle at Rimping or Kasem's for 500 baht.

I am not sure I understand the question.

Various coconut oils are available

1 liter virgin organic cold pressed coconut oil for about 550 baht at Rimping/Tops etc.

1 liter organic lesser grade coconut oil for 170 baht (at Rimping) which is probably partially heat extracted

You can definitely pay more per liter for smaller bottles

It works out to be about 9000 calories per liter of oil which is fairly inexpensive considering it's health benefits

I also see it at Baker Mart, the wholesale kitchen supplies store on the old Lamphun road. Most things are cheaper than Rim Ping, but it's still expensive stuff regardless.

I tried the lower grade one that comes in a plastic bag, but it doesn't give you the same fragrance of the high-end stuff.

Is Baker Mart different from Yok or the same?

It's called 'Phuan Khrua' in Thai. South of the Nong Hoi intersection with Aom Muang road, before you get to 89 Plaza.

Almost everything is cheaper than Rim Ping, from olive oil to steak sauces. It's predominantly a kitchen / bakery supplies store though.
