Just at Airport 2 hrs after getting new O multi cost 550RM about 5500 Baht

My story I had preprinted and completed forn but doorman who signs youin hands the out fom 0845 so plenty of time to complete before Office door opened 0925

Only pain was 20 min security queue at A Dhabi only 1 out of 6 scanners in use during prayer hour and despite making us all queue ,no one was looking at the stuff in the X Ray machine and could just jump queue and go through the gate as many Chinese did.

From KLIA Train RM 35 $11 35 mins or Bus $3 RM 10 both to Sentral Station Brickfields aea

Easy hop via LRT or Monorail to most attractions China Town Bukit Bintang Times Sq Towers etc

Digs Myhotel basic 3 star sat tv wifi (slow) v clean room kettle tea coffee nice towels included online from 109RM $35 up

www.myhotel.com.my.I got 2 nights for 198 online there was key deposit. It is in sight and across Rd East of Sentral staion

How to go to the Thai Consul

Jalan Ampang Embassy row which is N of downtown about 1km from the KLCC Twin Towers visible everywhere.

If in Chiantown or Brickfileds direct train.

From Bukit Bintang half hour walk or cab /bus combo or Monorail back to Sentral and then train easy aircon and chaep

Metred Taxi 30-50 from hotels haggling Bangkok style only more so .

I took LRT 2RM train easier and difference paid for Goat Curry RM 9 and couple of nice nice cool large bottles Guinness RM38

2RM LRT (rapid transit) Ticket machines take notes but seldom work so queue and buy at counter 20 min train to Ampang Park ,all clearly marked in English on platform and train

I spent inc travela and digs about $300 in KL,it could be done cheaper if zero beer and 1 night hotel

As other have noted the accepting clerk ticks your boxes and says pick up tomorrow,

NB the Swede before me asked for same day and was declined.

All in all smooth painless ,no questions asked.

You get a receipt for the money with your name and application tcket number attaché,need to bring that on collection day

.It is closed for all Thai and Malay holidays 29-30 of August.

Hand in first morning 0930-1130 next working day collection 230pm

Arrived 230pm on dot to see doors open and queue leading out

Somewhat dismayed went to ticket machine which was off.

Good news despite being no 16 in the queue they returned thet like cards and I was out the building in 3 minutes.Crossed busy Rd blocked by School traffic and caught 128 bus 1RM and ws back in KLCC train station and aircon Mall at 240pm.If you need to wait there is a shaded seating area outside and aircon seating within and a few oldThai mags if the Mrs is bored.

For those in a rush an Indian taxi tout is accosting visa runners for lifts to Airport.I’d reckon train always be quicker less hassle and about a quarter of the price. Some airlines like Malay allow Sentral Stesen (Central Sta) check in Malaysian certainly but not Air Asia which flies from LCCI terminal both Air Asia and others have cobnsatnt buse for about 100 baht .You can also book the Flybus with your tickets online but easy enough on the day. ATMs and changers at exit

All in all an easy experience.I guess if you can reach KL first thing and fly out after 7pm could manage with just one overnight.

It would be one year. Below explanation from Los Angeles website has a good overview. Actually there web page is very good and located here:

http://www.thaiconsulatela.org/service_visa_detail.aspx?link_id=34

Validity of visa

The validity of visa is three months for a single-entry (permit to stay up to 90 days in Thailand unless extension is granted by Thai Immigration) or one year for a multiple-entry (for each entry permit to stay up to 90 days in Thailand unless extension is granted by Thai Immigration). For example, with a single-entry visa you have three months to enter Thailand from when the visa is issued. For a one-year multiple-entry visa you have up to one year to enter Thailand as often as you require. Each entry on a Non-Immigrant visa is up to 90 days (except for Non-Immigrant O-A visas) unless and extension is granted by Thai Immigration. Not all Non-Immigrant visas can be issued for one-year multiple-entry. For example, the multiple-entry visa cannot be issued for volunteering with an non-governmental organization (NGO) or employment as a teacher of K-12 students.

Thanks for that. Do you know if they are issuing non o visa's (in KL) for people that have property here. i.e. hold the original deed to a house? Or by coming to visit friends? I know they used to in Australia (last year).

Do not believe any Consulate will issue for those reasons today (if you are asking about the type Hull and Perth were known for issuing).
