Curl Now Or Wait Til The States?

Featured Replies

My wife finally got her hair permed recently (yes, I was the one talking about how I loved long straight hair. That kept that old, 'gotta do something about my hair' itch at bay for quite a while) and now she wants to get another treatment to increase the waviness. I hate how chemically treated hair often gets damaged, and feel that her doing this on our upcoming US vacation would ensure better quality of products and operator. She spent 3,000bt here in Samui to get what her friends told her was a 'Bangkok' quality job. It seems fine, and her friends' hair also looks good. I don't begrudge the money (and it's her money, so no way could I ), but think this is one of those things where better quality is worth a higher price.

My question to you ladies is, how much more expensive is this likely to be in the US, and is the quality here acceptable? I figure average quality and price in the States will be better than top quality on Samui. What do you think? :jap:

Thank you for any advice.

Note that my lovely wife has healthy long black hair, mid back length.

A good salon will be at the very least $100. Not sure what you would pay in Bangkok, but yes, you are correct to be concerned, a perm done badly results in a fried look. Maybe search the ladies forum for some salon recommendations in Bangkok, the only thing is that they are more used to Asian hair and a high quality Bangkok salon may be better than an American one that is not used to Asian hair (just my two cents worth)

Answer is...better in US. In Chaweng, 3,000 baht and acceptable quality. In upmarket neighborhood salon in California about 4,700 baht for much better quality - looks great, no fried look, and no sulfur smell during treatment.
