Elephant Polo - Monday

Featured Replies

Hi all, I realised that Elephant Polo starts on Monday. I've never seen it - anyone been to it before...? where's the Anantara as that's where it's at, apparently....

We went to it years ago when it was first here before they moved it away for a time. It was a fun day out with lots of food and beverage tents set up (mostly) by the big hotel chains. The polo on Elephants is slow, but fun to watch the players try to hit the ball with a mallet that is twice as long as what they are used to. When we went before there were also many other activities around the periphery of the main event like elephant rides, a baby elephant that painted original art that you could purchase and other activities for all ages. That year, along with the professional polo teams they also had celebrity teams including the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team. It was fun to watch these superb athletes struggle to play a game that was totally alien to them, but they put on a good display of sportsmanship with a great sense of humor as they tried.

When we went was years ago (2005) so I don't remember the exact location. It was sponsored by Anantera then too, but it was not held at the resort, it was held on a field (pitch?) just south of Hua Hin on the west side of the highway going towards Pranburi somewhere near the area where the Banyan development is now.
