Hi,

First, sorry about my english writing skills. I came to Thailand in june 4th 2010, and my Non ED Visa will be finished in september 23th 2011, so I have been here for more than a year. I asked in a visa shop, but they want to charge me 8.000 bath to take care of minibus, hotel... to go to Lao, what it seems way too expensive. Here are my questions:

Do I need to go to Jomtien Inmigration Office before leaving Thailand?

Can I go on bus to Lao like the first time or I need to go on plane?. They said me I could apply for two months in Vientiane and one more month thanks to the Tourist Visa.. . but what do I have to apply for? Do I need some kind of papers from school, photos...?

Thanks in advance.

From the two month and one more month comment it seems you no longer qualify for ED visa/extensions of stay and they are saying you can get a single entry tourist visa from Vientiane. Cost of visa would be 1,000 baht plus cost of transport and overnight hotel stay in Vientiane so up to you if you wish to pay 8k or do yourself. You should not need anything from school for tourist visa but may require proof of 20,000 baht, airline ticket and hotel reservations from some reports (but that is not clear and most do not seem to be required to have this from reports so far).

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, school told me I can get a new non ED Visa, but I just want to be in Thailand until december 20th or so and then I will go back to Spain.

So I don't need anything special to apply for a single entry tourist visa? And what about Inmigration Office in Jomtien? Do I need to alert them before I go to Lao when my Non ED Visa almost expired?

Of course I will go alone with the prices you mentioned. I did it once and I will be able to do it again.

edit. Sorry, didn't see your edit. I don't know if I have an airline ticket but I have my reservation papers, as well as a one year contract of my room and every months payments. I will take those papers with me just in case. Hope it helps...

Many thanks again.

As long as you are going for a new visa entry there is no need to contact Jomtien.

I did forget there will be a visa charge to enter Laos at the border.

Uh, I thought the visa charge was only to stay longer than 15 days in Laos. Not a big deal though. Time to order a bus ticket!
