Passenger plane crashes in western Russia, killing at least 36

MOSCOW (BNO NEWS) -- At least 36 people were killed on Wednesday when a Yak-Service Airlines plane crashed in western Russia, officials said. One person survived the accident.

The accident happened moments after the Yak-42 aircraft took off from Tunoshna Airport in Yaroslavl Oblast, which is about 250 kilometers (160 miles) northeast of Moscow. A total of 37 people were on board.

According to Russia's Emergencies Ministry, at least 36 people were killed while one person survived the accident. His or her condition was not immediately known. Most of the victims are believed to have been from the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice-hockey team.
