Hi all some 5 weeks ago the firm i am planning to work for sent all the relevant papers to the labor office, i was told it would be between 3-4 weeks before i received the permit.

Is this normal, or am i being paranoid.?

Depends on your area and the 'correctness' of your paperwork.

In Phuket, for example, I know of people who have been currently waiting now for five months plus for a new Work Permit to be issued.

took a week in Chiang Mai (and that for an executive level position --- first WP for a foreigner for the company)

I waited a week on one ocassion and 3 days on another.

Longest I have waited is 10 days.
