Nine killed in rear-end collision in east China

HEFEI, CHINA (BNO NEWS) -- Nine people died and several others were injured on Sunday after a bus rear-ended a cement-mixing truck in east China, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The accident occurred in the province of Anhui when a bus carrying 36 people bound for the city of Ma'anshan from neighboring Jiangsu Province rammed into a stopped cement mixer. According to sources with the local emergency center, six people died instantly, while three others died after medical treatments failed.

The bus driver is listed among the casualties. Another 27 people were injured, including 13 who are in critical condition, according to Xinhua.

A representative from the bus company claimed that the vehicle was not overloaded. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
