Hi all

I'm looking to buy a new PC, the spec is slightly non-standard, so I need a custom build.

The PC is for day trading, so it needs to be a multi-screen setup.

The spec will be something like this:

Intel i7 or above

8Gb Ram

2 x 500gb HDDs

4 x VGA/DVI ports

The 4x VGA can be a single card but I need this PC to have a motherboard that will accept 2 video cards as I may expand to 6 screens later.

Where would be the best place to get a machine like this built?

Any suggestions?

Pete

Why the 2x hard drives? Planning on going RAID-1? And Core i7 or above? Currently unless you're looking at multi-socket Core i7 is the best proc out there. Not sure why you would need the best; would imagine your hold up was going to be your 'net connection.

You should also look at ATI if you're going to go >4 screens. Their Eyeinfinity is really the only game in town, but be warned you'll need expensive active display port -> dvi/hdmi to take advantage of it unless you get the proper monitors.

@Multimonitor graphic card

I still use MSI_R6870 Hawk http://www.msi.com/p...R6870-Hawk.html ,connected 4 dvi monitors, no problems at all and this card is good priced. But you need for this card 2 active mini displayports-dvi adapts, costs starting about 24 USD per adapt plus shipping. May be you think about MSI_R5870 Eyefinity 6 http://www.msi.com/p...yefinity-6.html ,connecting up tp 6 monitors but then you need more additional active adapts.

You do not say where you are living?

I had a local shop in Tukom, Sri Racha put together a PC for me, to my specification.

The actual cost of the build was minimal.

Do have a specific motherboard in mind?

Buy ASUS motherboard with 3 PCIe x 16 slots and 3 cheapest ATI or PCIe cards with 2 DVI ports each. The cards model does not really matter as far as it's recent unless your trading software supports CUDA technology (calculation offloading to the graphics chips). In fact you probably WANT the cheaper cards as you probably do not need 3D and cheaper cards usually run colder and draw less current. We've built these setups before for traders.
