Covert Non-Imm B/Ed To Non-Imm O

Featured Replies

I have been living in Thailand the past few years. I plan to go back home to UK for a visit, and also to apply for a non-imm B or Ed, to do a 6mth internship/work training with a hotel here.

After my internship I plan to marry my Thai boyfriend of many years - (and yes it is a real relationship!)

Just checking - it should be relatively easy to convert from non-Imm B/Ed to a non-Imm O after we are married, right?

Thanks,

(PS Not sure if it will be a non-Imm B or non-Imm Ed yet, as not sure how Hull would classify an internship?)

Non immigrant visas are not converted but if on extension of stay the reason can be changed but believe ED entry is not normally one that makes this process easy. At the most you would have to exit/return to convert a visa exempt entry or just visit a Consulate with marriage paperwork to obtain a non immigrant O visa for entry and then extend for one year at immigration when less than 30 days remain on entry. In any case not much to it (especially for a woman).

Thanks Lopburi3, I think Hull only issue single entry 90day Non-Imm B visas (not multi entry), so in this case could I still apply for extension? then convert to Non-Imm O . (I guess I would have to prepare this X days before visa expires?)

Otherwise looks like going to KL with marriage paperwork, hope non-Imm O visas application is easy there

Guess it is lucky that I'm a woman :) From what I have heard it does sound easier
