Hoax Crocodile call made to Banglamung Police leads to manhunt

PATTAYA: -- A hoax call made to the Police regarding a sighting of a crocodile enraged officers who wasted valuable resources on the call. A Thai man placed a call to Banglamung Police in the early hours of Sunday suggesting a crocodile had been sighted in the Nong Pla Lai area. Because of the recent floods and the problems with crocodiles that escaped from the Pattaya Crocodile Farm, the call was taken extremely seriously and over 30 officers and volunteers converged on the location in search of the dangerous animal. Police attempted to call back the informant who eventually answered and was heard to be laughing. He stated that he could not believe officers had such limited intelligence to believe the call was real.
