Wife Returning To The Uk

Featured Replies

We have booked a holiday to LOS, leaving the UK on 27th October, returning Sat 12th Nov.

The wife's passport runs out on 10th December. She has FLR.

As far as I'm aware she just need's a valid passport to be "re-admitted" to the UK, not one with 6 months validity.

She has an interview on Friday with the Thai Embassy to get a new passport, which may not be here before we leave.

Do you see any problems on our return?

Many thanks :wai:

As long as her passport is valid then she should be admitted back into the UK without problems.

My daughter recently renewed her Thai passport at the embassy in Kensington and I think that they canceled her old one. If this is the case obviously your wife wont be able to travel until her new one arrives. If I recall this took about three weeks as everything is sent to Bangkok.

Unfortunately my daughter isn't here to ask. You may want to check this with the embassy.

I''ll get her to call the embassy today. Obviously no point in applying if they cancel the old passport.

Do not know if I have missed something here, but would it not be easier and cheaper to renew it in Thailand on your visit if it is possible to get it processed within two weeks?

According my wife it still takes 3-4 weeks in Thailand.

Not sure if there is an "express" service. I'll get her to check.

Depends where you apply.

Bangkok, about 5 working days; outside Bangkok, longer as, again, everything has to be sent to Bangkok.

We'll be in Bangkok for a week or so so will probably apply there.

My wife phoned Bangkok yesterday and apparently you can get an express service if you pay 1000 baht and then you'll get the new passport in 2 days.
